Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an oldest holistic system in India. It has been there for thousands of years. Ayurveda believes in the refined balance between body, mind and the spirit. Promoting hood health is the main objective of Ayurveda medicine. It does not stand for fighting diseases. Ayurveda concepts are very delicate and unique. Ayurveda theories believe that, everything in the universe is connected to each other. Poor health and diseases are a result of an imbalance in its harmony. Ayurveda practitioners believe that, anything that affects the physical, spiritual or mental well-being will cause and imbalance with the universe. Things that cause these imbalances may include:

  • Climate and seasonal changes

  • Injuries

  • Genetic birth defects

  • Emotions

  • Age

There are five basic elements in the universe that constitutes a person:

  • Earth

  • Water

  • Air

  • Space and

  • Fire

The three life forces or energies, known as doshas, are a combination of these elements. The doshas control the work of the body. Vata dosha (space and air), pitta dosha (fire and water) are the three doshas indicated in Ayurveda. The three doshas can be seen at different levels in each individual. Normally, any one of the three doshas will be dominant in an individual. Different body functions of the body are controlled by these doshas. Ayurveda believes that, diseases that affect a person has a connection with the balance of the three doshas.
